Who we are

A foundation built by the people it serves

Jibon Foundation started in 2011 with a handful of volunteers rebuilding one flood-damaged school in Kurigram. Today we're a registered non-profit working across 12 districts, but the approach hasn't changed: listen to the community first, then build alongside them — not for them.

  • Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of Bangladesh
  • 92% of donations go directly to field programs
  • Locally led teams in every district we operate in

How we work

From first visit to a community that can carry on without us

Every program follows the same three-stage path, because durable change can't be rushed.

1

Listen & Assess

Our field teams live in the community for weeks before proposing anything, mapping real needs with local leaders.

2

Build Together

Programs are co-designed and co-run with residents — from committee members to local health workers.

3

Hand Over & Monitor

Once a program is self-sustaining, ownership transfers to the community, and we check in quarterly for two years.

"We don't measure success by how many programs we run. We measure it by how many we've handed over — to committees, to health workers, to families who no longer need us."

Nasrin Akhter · Executive Director, Jibon Foundation
